I have never seen this word to mean "ion", although I could be wrong.
I have included this because I wish to add the word "eon" to the dictionary,

(comment)	It's only the spelling I would contend needs changing. Currently, the 
dictionary has "ion" and "eon" pointing to the same katakana word.
