Also, if you do a Google search for 波数、you will find thousands of Web sites with examples of this word.
(comment)	Your current definition is "wave number," which doesn't make a lot of sense in English. I think that "frequency," in the sense of electromagnetic waves, is a more appropriate definition.
It is true that 周波数 also means "frequency" and is likely the more commonly-used word for this concept. Still, I think it's clear that frequency is a better translation than "wave number" in this case.
