Also used by a colleague in the expression "...NFOECとの併催となった", referring to the combination of a pair of conferences (the other one being understood from previous context, in the usual manner).
(comment) 併催 is strictly speaking an abbreviation of 併用開催, but it appears to be starting to take on a life of its own, even though it is apparently not yet accepted officially as a word in its own right - hence its description above as an abbreviation. In use, it mostly appears as one of those "kango adjectives" that operate within moji-retsu, although not exclusively so. Grammatically, it's probably strictly speaking a noun, just as all kango seem to be.
