(comment)	Apparently based on the location where the first guns were traded into Japan. 
The technical question of what to do about having an ENAMDIC entry for 種子島 (the place) vs an EDICT entry for the guns I'll leave to you but probably the easiest thing would be do duplicate the ENAMDIC information into the EDICT entry as the first sense.  Otherwise people would end up with the obscure historical term and not the place name when doing a default WWWJDIC word search.
