(reference)	Technical math term, meaning an element x of an algebra
with power x^n = 0. It is pretty common in math textbooks.
For example, 冪零Lie環 (nilpotent Lie algebra) Googles to
a few hundred, of which the sixth is

and has: "ad x が冪零の時、x を冪零元といい"
we say that x is a nilpotent element if its adjoint map
ad x is nilpotent.
