ハワードさんのカラオケ初体験の日でもあります。
I have see the expression used this way before. A quick search by Google shows other examples, e.g.,

初体験!岸和田だんじり祭り is about someone's first visit to a certain festival.

August 01 entry, キャンプ(1泊)初体験 , is about the first time a little girl (author's daughter) went camping.

The Sept 1 entry is about the first time someone ate wasp larvae (!)
(comment)	I cannot really tell whether these examples are somehow joking references to a core meaning of "first sexual experience", but somehow I doubt it. The reverse seems true. That is, in the case of the a first sexual experience, the sexual reference is simply left unstated.
