(headw1)	母体
(kana1)	ぼたい
(pos1)	n
(english1)	(1) mother's body (particularly when pregnant / after giving birth)
(english2)	(2) heartland
(reference)	http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/search.php?MT=%CA%EC%C2%CE&kind=jn
(comment)	Is "heartland" what 大辞林's getting at with the "original thing that something parted from"? Seems in the general area but a little thin. Anyway I haven't seen it used in that sense so I'll leave that alone.

(subtype)	amend
(headw1)	同
(kana1)	どう
(pos1)	n
(pos2)	pref
(english1)	the same; the said; ibid.
(comment)	I think this should be (pref) as well as, or instead of (n).
It is (presumably) being used as a prefix in 同署 (どうしょ) apparently to mean "police (of the previously mentioned police station)". 同署 is all over the place, but as you may have gathered, I'm not 100% sure of my ground here.

(headw1)	上位互換性
(kana1)	じょういごかんせい
(pos1)	n
(reference)	A document at work: the replacement for an obsoleted model 基本的に上位互換です, meaning compatibility with the older model. (I also asked someone.) Sorry, nothing verifiable.
(comment)	Defined as "upward compatibility," which is a literal translation of the Japanese, but I think the correct English is "backward compatibility" (with older models). What's worse, "upward compatible" is used to mean "forward compatible" (http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/U/upward_compatible.html), which has the opposite meaning. ALC also translates as upwardly, forward compatible, incorrectly I think.
