New Entries/Amendments for 2006-11-18

These are the submissions received via the WWW forms for this day. I (Jim Breen) will annotate the submission if I think it needs to be amended or rejected or if I have a question about it. Otherwise it can be assumed that it has been accepted. You can see how it will look in EDICT by looking at the "diffs" file for this day or the next in the diffs directory.
Annotations completed: Nov 18
Headword 1馬鹿穴
Reading 1ばかあな
Part-of-speechn
English 1clearance hole
ReferenceNone, but current entry doesn't make any sense. I work at a Japanese auto manufacturer and someone asked what this word meant today. I looked it up here at WWWJDIC and found it, and in the context, "clearance hole" makes much more sense than the current entry: "ccearancehole"
NameJ. English
Submission Typeamend
Editorial Comment This 馬鹿穴 is the "riverwater" glossary. I have changed it to "clearance" and also added it to EDICT:
馬鹿穴 [ばかあな] /(n) clearance hole (hole for a bolt, screw, etc., which is large enough to allow the thread, etc. to pass through)/
Seems it's used in metal and timberworking in English.

CommentI just thought the word gay is a bit confusing in this day and age, so I changed it...
Submission Typeamend
Editorial Comment I dropped "gay" to the end of the list. I don't like to see a word so totally taken-over in that way.

(動カ下二)
水中にもぐらせる。
「上つ瀬に鵜を八頭(やつ)―・け/万葉 3330」
Commentthis word seems to be pretty obscure (obsolete?), because the examples they're using are all from the man'you-shuu. added the arch tag, because it seems appropriate

this is not a joyo reading for this kanji, hence the uk tag.

someone might want to check this entry for accuracy, as i don't fully understand the ALC entry (i'm not an expert on archaic japanese)

Commentagain, seems to be archaic, and is a non-joyo reading.
someone might want to review my entry.

according to the entry, it's also possible to read this as かつぐ, but i didn't know how to use the www form to create an entry with two different readings, writings and verb types. perhaps best to create an identical entry with the かつぐ reading and cross-link them
Namerene
Submission Typenew
Editorial Comment I added かつぐ and I'll worry about the two verb types later. 8-)}
