I have personally spoken about this with a number of Japanese exchange students (which begs to question if it is simply a discrepancy amongst younger Japanese) but all-but-confirmed the term's modern archaeism with Japanese instructors who find that, in modern textbooks, the French-adapted term is favoured, even by Japanese professors. |

I am having trouble working out what you are actually suggesting by way of amendment. I have added ピエロ as a cross-ref. I don't think "uK" is needed and with over 700,000 Google page counts, I don't think we can really declare it as archaic. Yes, ピエロ is more common, but only by an extra 800,000. |
