I can only say that it is a derogatory term, appropriate label or joke which I found to be very, very common, usually in reference to a specific so-qualified individual. It is sometimes shortened in conversation, as the Chinese do, to 変態. |

as the dictionary.goo.ne.jp page says, はあとめーる is the official "brand" name (which explains the strange spelling). i've attached a link to the official japan post press release above, which confirms this spelling. same goes for さくらめーる and かもめーる, links also above. no amendment to speak of, just comments. |
