Comment | Comment on Jim's Editorial Comment (Hmmm. Why am I seeing WWW pages with "外国産の人形", etc.?) on Dennis' comment (外国産 typically refers to agricultural products (produce, fruits, beef, etc.) and not manufactured goods which are typically called 外国製).
"Typically," yes, but 外国産 can refer to manufactured goods when their place (country) of origin is the point at issue, especially in relationship to international trade. You never say, however, 外国製リンゴ、米国製牛肉, etc. BTW, does the third meaning in the original entry ("exotic (articles)") make sense? 外国産品 may have been "exotic" during the Meiji period, but no longer so in this day and age. |

Comment | According to goo, まいうー is the "proper" way to write this word, and that's the way I've always seen it written in Japanese subtitles. (Usually written as まいう〜 on TV.) Also, I'm quite sure that it's never used to refer to 旨い (rich in flavor)、甘い (sweet)、巧い (efficient) or 上手い (skilled). Just 美味い (delicious). If you told someone that they were まいうー at speaking English, you'd be sure to draw a ton of laughs.
At any rate, まいうー should be the headword. I've removed the inappropriate meanings, changed the POS, and added a slang tag. |

(I realize dictionaries combine the meanings of ぶっつける and うちつける, but it seems to me these are somewhat different sets of meanings. Oh, well...) |
