CommentFurther to the amendment given, this is a common word, often used and found in the dictionary, and as far as I know (from having seen it a lot), and as the dictionary supports, it is just the jukugo version of "animation". I'd guess the contributor who said it meant "in-betweening" in anime was just guessing.
