Comment | These two can definately be merged.
飢える 【うえる】 (v1,vi) to starve 饑える; 餓える 【うえる】 (v1,vi) to be hungry; to starve; to thirst The following can probably also be merged (with (P) stuck on the うえる) 飢える 【かつえる】 (v1,vi) to be starved; to be hungry (but note that 饑える seems to be うえる only). |

English 1 | (uk) to pinch |
English 2 | to hold |
English 3 | to pick up |
Reference | http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/search.php?MT=つまむ&kind=jn |
Comment | Added 抓む (which I haven't actually seen used myself in modern Japanese) also needs a (uk) tag. (Even if 100f the 摘む hits were read つまむ there are still more for the hiragana つまむ than the kanji 摘む. My gut feeling is that the majority of 摘む would be read つむ anyway).
I note that 大辞林 has 摘まむ but not 摘む (広辞苑 is the opposite with 摘む but not 摘まむ). Having 摘まむ gives the advantage of providing a clear distinction vs 摘む(つむ). I wonder if anybody knows what the official guidelines (if any) are on this one? |

Current Entry | 解く [ほどく] /(v5k,vt) to unfasten/to untie/to unwrap (e.g., parcel)/(P)/ |
Headword 1 | 解く |

Comment | Should be a (uk). Reading is not in the 常用漢字表 (also all instances of ほどく in the examples collection are in hiragana). (N.B. the biblical text
私はその方の靴紐を解く価値もありません。 The thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. is shown with とく as furigana - probably an example of somewhat unusual/archaic usage.) |
