一番 _may_ have been involved at some point but I don't think it would be appropriate to label it as (abbr) or put a cross ref in to something much less used.

Headword 1口に
Reading 1くちに
Part-of-speechadv

English 2speaking of
English 3referring to
CommentRegarding "Given the plethora of 口に(verb) idioms, it's not a bad one to have."

I'm not convinced that it actually makes sentences using 口に any easier to understand.

For a start (adv) doesn't seem likely. That makes me think it should be ...
口に 【くちに】 (adv) eatingly; speakingly; referringly
or something.

There are (now) 39 sentences in the collection that include '口に' and are presently indexed to 口 + に.

Some are variations on expressions (now) in Edict, like

そのことは一言も口には出さなかった。
I said nothing about the matter.

口に出す [くちにだす] (exp,v5s) to put into words; to say

For those cases I think it's better to hope people make the leap to the (exp) entry than struggle through "(adv) speaking of" + は出す

All the rest involve the mouth + some action, a typical example of the most common being

食べ物を口に入れたまましゃべるのはよくありません。
It is not good to talk with your mouth full.

I don't think I have ever seen a sentence where singling out "口に" as a unit with the present Edict definition is an aid to understanding.
NamePaul Blay
Submission Typeamend
Editorial Comment However idioms like 口に乗る, 口に掛ける need perhaps a little more explanation that just something involving a mouth. I have added 5 more 口に entries, so maybe it's well enough covered now.
Any other views besides Paul's and mine?

人間(じんかん)到る処(ところ)青山(せいざん)あり
CommentFor いたる、both 到る and 至る are used. For ところ、both 処 and 所 are used. 「あり」are usually written 「あり」、but I don't think anything is wrong with 「有り」,
The original kanji were: 人間到處有青山 (幕末の僧、月性の「清狂遺稿」より)
About the 「じんかん」reading, one web commentor says:
「漢詩の形式をとっているから本来的にはジンカンなのだが江戸期までは呉音が主流であったし何より作者は僧侶であるから読みはニンゲンで正しくその意はヒトなのであろう。」

Another polular version (人生 instead of 人間) also exists.
