Headword 1
Part-of-speechexp
English 1how can (we / I do something)
Reference14 examples in the Tanaka Corpus (excluding
CommentI thought as we have どうしたら良い we might as well have どうしたら as well.

The following figures should probably be taken with a pinch of salt but it is certainly common enough.

6,190,000 yahoo.co.jp hits

Headword 1
Headword 2
Part-of-speechadj-pn
English 1what's the matter?
English 2what's wrong?
CommentIs it sensible to add the の to this expression? Out of the 42 examples of this expression in the Tanaka Corpus all but one are どうしたの or どうしたん. (The exception is どうしたというのだ - so there's a の in there eventually ;-)

There are also a few どうした's that do not have a meaning as given for this entry - I'm not including those.

Headword 1左向き
Reading 1
Part-of-speechn

Headword 1北向き
Reading 1
Part-of-speechn
English 1facing north
English 2northern exposure
CommentAgain an argument for consistency.

北向き facing north; facing north; northern exposure
vs.
南向き minami muki = southern exposure; facing south

Please understand that, due to time constraints, I never check to see if these suggestions have been incorporated - a kind of "take it or leave" proposition, if you will.
Actually I liked it better when Jim emailed me separately in agreement of disagreement.

Google-- define: pubis

# Part of the pelvis
www.alphalink.com.au/~dannj/gloss.htm

# one of the three sections of the hipbone; together these two bones form the front of the pelvis

Commentadding たらい回し, and expanding the meaning

senses (2) and (3) could be combined, but sense (2) can be used to refer to something desirable, such as a political position, so I figured they might be better left separate

Commentyes, you're right, paul. i've seen the ハメ thing on pink chirashi, and i just didn't put it together. "make love" should probably be changed to something a little more graphic. i guess the literal definition would be "stuff", in the slang british sense, but "fuck" would probably work just as well for yanks

i feel sorry for you jim... your hourly updating has turned the submissions page into a slow-moving chat room
