Well first I found that there are four Google hits for 統轄from nhk.or.jp sites and 574 (actual, non duplicate) for 統括 (0.7��轄). This is at least indicative of an avoidance of 統轄 compared to the web in general (19.3��轄). Secondly I'll note that the _definition_ of 統轄 is closer to that of 統括 than the current entry suggests. Looking at 大辞林 統轄: 多くの人や機関を一つにまとめてつかさどること。 「社長は全体を―する」「出先機関を―する」 統括: ばらばらのものを一つにまとめること。 「全体を―する立場にある」 So they _both_ 'bring together many (...) as one' but for 統轄 the "and control/supervise" meaning is also present. Given this closeness in meaning it is difficult to be 100 ertain of the intended meaning of any particular 統括 if those being brought together are people/organisations and there is a strong likelihood that 'supervision' is implied then I think we can say that it is 統轄-like in meaning. Perhaps I was being too fussy about the inclusion of the "usually" in the glosses of 姪子・姪っ子 and 甥子・甥っ子。 I'm now inclined to think that the "usually" need not be included. When an old man calls his adult niece 姪子 (as in the case of 伊藤左千夫's novel 『姪子』), for instance, he may be using it in the sense of "my little niece," the term he has used ever since the niece was indeed a little girl. I think they do. But in order to solve the"technical problem in Examples indexing system" pointed out by Paul, I would like to suggest the following changes/reorganization. Although 大辞林 lists about a dozen meanings of なり, both archaic and modern, as 助動詞 (aux-v)、接続助詞 (conjunction), and 副助詞 (adv particle), I think they may be summarized into five major senses. A. Of these five important senses of なり, the old entry: なり (prt) (1) or; whether or not; (2) (after dictionary form verb) as soon as; right after; (3) (after past tense verb) while still; with previous state still in effect essentially covers the three modern senses. Therefore, revive this entry by deleting the latest additions of the senses (4) and (5) from the currenty entry for なり. B. The archaic 断定の助動詞 なり・也 (uk) -- Create a new entry: 也；なり (aux-v) (1) (arch)(uk) be (an affirmation, meaning 〜だ、〜である）; (2) (n,suf)(uK) sum of money (used to express an exact sum on a receipt, envelope, certificate, etc.) (And delete the current entry: 也(n,suf)(uK) sum of money (.......) ) (My response to the Editorial Comment on 時は金なり: "I did wonder if 也/なり came into this at all."
