CommentShould be rendered "student dormitory", a fact which raises a question: Why is this not found under 寮 or dormitory?
NameDennis
Submission Typeamend
Editorial Comment Added "student dormitory" (which is the AmE term.) In BrE, dormitory means a room with lots of beds.
Re: "Why is this not found under 寮 or dormitory?" Well, it *is* under 寮 if you search for 寮 anywhere in the kanji word.

CommentIn the interest of uniformity and balance, why do we not have 男性寮? Also, what about 女男性寮 (a co-ed dormitory). I know they exist in Japan, because I stayed in one at Kyoto University. Male and female students were not supposed to share rooms but then ....

男性 【だんせい】 (n) male; man
NameDennis
Submission Typeamend
Editorial Comment Rhetorical question? 男性寮 is not there because no-one has added it, presumably because it is far less common. As for 女男性寮, why not add an entry?
