I think to "bump off" (sl) could mean either "to murder" or "to remove" (say, from the list of candidates in an election). Though I'm not 100 ertain, I don't think 外す is used to mean "to murder." according to wikipedia, 杼 is used as a "close enough" jis208 version to represent a jis213 kanji: 似た文字の「杼」で代用されることもあるが、杼は機織りの横糸を通すものであり、本来は全く違う意味の字である。 daijirin agrees: ひ 1 【▼杼/▼梭】織機の部品の一。緯(よこ)糸を通す用具。かい。シャトル。 the proper kanji is the kokuji 𥝱. in case that doesn't come through, the left side is 禾, and the right side is 予. wikipedia says that it is also possible to use those two kanji side-by-side to represent the jis213 kanji. hence the new headword. There are a couple of hundred web hits to support this. So please mark 杼 as (iK), じょ as a gikun reading of 禾予 and add a note that the proper kanji is JISX-0213 1-89-39, Unicode U+25771. |
