English 6(3) to bump off (sl)
CommentResponse to Paul's Comment: "Has anybody got a reference source or example sentence for sense (3) ?"
I think to "bump off" (sl) could mean either "to murder" or "to remove" (say, from the list of candidates in an election). Though I'm not 100 ertain, I don't think 外す is used to mean "to murder." As an example sentence of the second meaning ("to remove"), how about something like:
The candidate who received the fewest number of votes was bumped off from the next round of voting.
http://www.knoxnews.com/kns/local_news/article/0,1406,KNS_347_5318117,00.html
(I wonder, though, if this "bump off" is really a slang expression. It could simply be an example sentece of sense (2).)

Commentaccording to these sources, this is the wrong kanji.

according to wikipedia, 杼 is used as a "close enough" jis208 version to represent a jis213 kanji:
似た文字の「杼」で代用されることもあるが、杼は機織りの横糸を通すものであり、本来は全く違う意味の字である。
daijirin agrees:
ひ 1 【▼杼/▼梭】織機の部品の一。緯(よこ)糸を通す用具。かい。シャトル。

the proper kanji is the kokuji 𥝱. in case that doesn't come through, the left side is 禾, and the right side is 予. wikipedia says that it is also possible to use those two kanji side-by-side to represent the jis213 kanji. hence the new headword. There are a couple of hundred web hits to support this.

So please mark 杼 as (iK), じょ as a gikun reading of 禾予 and add a note that the proper kanji is JISX-0213 1-89-39, Unicode U+25771.

Headword 1碌な
Headword 2陸な
Reading 1ろくな
Part-of-speechadj-pn
English 1(usually used in the negative sense) (uk) satisfactory

Commenti would think that this shouldn't be changed to "adj-na", but rather "adj-pn". all keiyoudousi listed in edict with the な at the end should be listed as adj-pn, for the reasons i stated about a month ago (they can only be used as attributives, etc.) listing this as adj-na makes only slightly more sense than listing 碌に as adj-na, IMO.

edict currently has a number of entries in the "proper" form:
可笑しな [おかしな] (adj-pn) ridiculous, odd.
小さな [ちいさな] (adj-pn) small, little, tiny
味な [あじな] (adj-pn) smart, clever, witty, strange

the PoS on the 碌な and 大きな (still listed as adj-na) should be reconsidered, IMO.

Also, since these words popped up when I searched, I'd also like to put forth a question about the validity of the "adv" and "n" PoS tags on the following words:
どんな (adj-na,adj-pn,n) what, what kind of.
こんな (adj-na,adj-pn,adv,n) such, like this.
そんな (adj-na,adj-pn,adv) such, like that, that sort of.
