These are the submissions received via the WWW forms for this day. I (Jim Breen) will annotate the submission if I think it needs to be amended or rejected or if I have a question about it. Otherwise it can be assumed that it has been accepted. You can see how it will look in EDICT by looking at the "diffs" file for this day or the next in the diffs directory.

English 1(See 亭主の好きな赤烏帽子) red eboshi (headgear worn by Japanese men prior to and during the Edo period, which was ordinarily black in color)
Comment< ... using 赤烏帽子 as a metaphor for "odd taste". Is this a valid assessment? If so it would be grounds for leaving it there with "metaphor for having an odd taste in clothes, etc." as a gloss. >
I think "the word itself as a metaphor" is indeed a valid assessment. I haven't found, however, any particular reference to an odd taste in "clothes." The definition in 大辞林 also says "変わった物、また変わったものを好むことにいう". So how about "metaphor for an odd item or having a taste for such an item" or something like that?

Headword 1演奏中入お断り

English 2TempSUB
CommentThis is a very odd phrase/sentence. Could this be a typo for 演奏中入場お断り(えんそうちゅうにゅうじょうおことわり)?
中入り(なかいり)is intermission during performance in sumo, yose, etc., but there's no such word (I don't think) as 演奏中入り(えんそうなかいり). GG5 has: 演奏中は入場できません. You are not allowed in after the concert has started. | 〔掲示〕 Entry is not permitted during the performance.

Comment< Can anyone throwlight on this? No references outside Eijiro. Lots of WWW hits, but many are to あるある大事典. >

I'm not sure if there's anything particularly meaningful about this phrase (except for its derivation from the long-running TV program that has led to its popularity). To me, it's merely a repetition of a word for exmphasis similar to:
うんうん、見た見た、あったあった、いるいる、いたいた、知ってる知ってる、やったやった! , etc. (うん、そういう事って、あるある!、うんうん、そういう人っているいる! etc.)

It's kinda new slang>

Note that the entry had a typo. クビレフェチ in the 'ref', グビレフェチ in the headword.

クビレフェチ does _not_ mean 'Woman's Body'. It means "kubire fetish".

括れ(くびれ) (n) (uk) the bits that curve in (e.g. on a body that curves out and in in all the right places); narrow part of the waist
http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/search.php?MT=%A4%AF%A4%D3%A4%EC&search_history=%A5%AF%A5%D3%A5%EC&kind=jn&kwassist=0&mode=0

The "fetish" bit shouldn't be taken literally, just as 'attracted to'.

Given the very small number of hits (61 yahoo.co.jp) I am dubious as to whether it is worth including.

http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/search.php?MT=よし&kind=jn&mode=0&base=1&row=4

If not then sense (2) is certainly more common than (1).

The 大辞林 entry for 良い has more senses than you can shake a stick at, Edict doesn't split the glosses for 良い at the moment. I would suggest having sense (1) of this entry included as part of an expanded entry for 良い.

CommentI'm dubious about having this entry with kanji.

If you come across 如何にも in text it would almost certainly be いかにも which has a significantly different meaning and _doesn't_ have an Edict entry. I would suggest changing this (back?) to a kana only entry but if not then there certainly needs to be an entry for 如何にも for 'disambiguation' purposes.
