English 1 | backs |
English 2 | VAX |
English 3 | dollars ("bucks") |
Comment | I really had to debate on whether or not to submit this one.
Living in the San Francisco bay area (United States), the added definition of "bucks" is something I have learned to understand from Japanese shopkeepers to be the equivelant of ドル (dollar). Because I sincerely doubt that native Japanese would ever use this meaning, I suppose it could be considered colloquial, but in the same way, because it could also be argued as not being "true Japanese" (in the sense that all Japanese would relatively easily comprehend its meaning). As an interesting side-note (and again, something I had to learn to recognise in conversation), the 「バックス」is often shortened to 「バ」when used in conjunction with セント (cents), as in 「このアイテムは7バ19セント。」 |

Comment | In contrast to ネタ and the ボケ of ぼけ and つっこみ routines マジボケ implies the person speaking or acting doesn't realise that they are mistaken/being silly. |
