It may not be in the dictionaries but I'm pretty sure I've seen/heard it used that way quite a lot. It's on similar lines to ³Ð¤¨¤Æ¤í¡ª (but not limited to °Ìò) I presume it is referring to overtaking one's opponent in the metaphorical race and looking back at them. |

Headword 1 | »ý¤Æ¤ë |
Reading 1 | ¤â¤Æ¤ë |
Part-of-speech | v1,vi |
English 1 | (1) (See »ý¤Ä) to be able to possess (hold, get, etc.) |
English 2 | (2) (oft. ¥â¥Æ¤ë) to be well liked |
English 3 | to be popular |
English 4 | to be pampered (spoiled, doted upon, etc.) |
English 5 | to be welcomed |
English 6 | (adj-pn) (3) possessing riches |
English 7 | having wealth |
English 8 | (4) to endure (the tests of time, the elements, etc.) |
English 9 | to last |
Comment | I'm dubious about "(can only be used in noun-modification)".
(2) is the only one commonly written ¥â¥Æ¤ë, if you search on "·ë¹½¥â¥Æ¤ë" there are 17,000 hits and the majority are _not_ modifying nouns. Possibly modern/colloquial usage now differs. |

Well, there already appears to be: £Ó ¡Ú¥¨¥¹¡Û (n) (abbr) letter "S" (abbr. for sister, south, steam, etc.); (P) i would say that all 26 should probably be added, if they're not in there already, just for the readings. the readings for "W", "V" and some others are somewhat difficult to guess |
