Comment | The japanese dictionaries list several meanings, but maybe the ones at the yahoo link are enough.
I personally came across the first one, as in "ひしと抱きしめた" |

Current Entry | オレンジ /(n) an orange/(P)/ |
Headword 1 | オレンジ |
Part-of-speech | n |
English 1 | orange |
Reference | 広辞苑、大辞林、大辞泉、etc. |
Comment | I guess the "an" was put in to make a distinction from the color. But according to koujien and daijirin, it can as well mean orange color.
Maybe something like "orange (fruit)" might also be possible? |

Comment | >I'm happy toinclude whatever works. My IME gives both 〃 and 々 for おなじく.
Work started up again, so I have access to a Windows box now. 〃 pops up under ATOK '03 if you type おなじ (or くりかえし) but not おなじく. All of the kana/kanji repetition symbols also pop up if you type in either of these readings. Same goes for the standard MS IME as well. |

Comment | "In what contexts?"
In the context of "WWWJDIC examples" ;-) If you search on specific phrases (1) is obviously more common than (2), but both are present. (N.B. I think 'どこにもない' is a bit of a special case - possibly worth a separate Edict entry). どこにもある 59,100 どこにもない 2,030,000 どこにもいる 32,900 どこにもいない 313,000 |

Comment | > It's worth a mention somewhere though? (I'd drop the が.)
? I can see the "justice" of someone seeing ...起きていようが... > and thinking "what's that いよう?". There are two example (at > least) in the Tanakas. I would keep the が but drop the い. The が that makes it distinctive. The い just risks misleading people as to how it is formed. ようが (exp) (volitional form of verb + ga) regardless of whether you (verb) This does leave you with the regrettable decision of a) Ignoring v5 verbs. b) Indexing v5 verbs to this anyway (e.g. 歩こうが indexed to 歩く{歩} ようが{こうが} c) Adding こうが etc., etc. to this entry. Personally I think b) has a slight edge. |
