New Entries/Amendments for 2007-10-12

These are the submissions received via the WWW forms for this day. I (Jim Breen) will annotate the submission if I think it needs to be amended or rejected or if I have a question about it. Otherwise it can be assumed that it has been accepted. You can see how it will look in EDICT by looking at the "diffs" file for this day or the next in the diffs directory.

Editorial Comment You can put several glosses on the one line by putting "/" between them, e.g. "I/me". This works because "new" submissions are turned into EDICT format (for the "newsubs" file), where "/" is the gloss separator.

Current Entry強者 [きょうしゃ;つわもの] /(n) strong person/
Headword 1強者

Reading 2つわもの
Part-of-speechn
English 1strong person (つわもの is also written as 兵)
Referencehttp://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/search.php?MT=つわもの&kind=jn
CommentEither that or the 兵(つわもの) entry should have a new sense added and a (also written as 強者).

I've just come across 強者 with the furigana つわもの so I think it is probably correct.
NamePaul Blay
Submission Typeamend
Editorial Comment I think this is a blurring between 強者/きょうしゃ and 兵/つわもの. It seems つわもの has a nuance of "warrior", which きょうしゃ lacks. Paul's suggested addition is probably the best way to handle this.
