Current Entry十本 [じゅっぽん] /(adj) ten (long cylindrical things)/
Headword 1十本
Reading 1じっぽん
Reading 2じゅっぽん
Part-of-speechn
English 1ten (long cylindrical things)
Reference このようにして、「十本」には古来の読み方が慣習として残った「じっぽん」と現代の音に合わせた「じゅっぽん」の2通りが見られると考えられます。(日本語Q&A Presented by NAFL 日本語教師養成通信講座)http://home.alc.co.jp/db/owa/jpn_npa?stage=2&sn=50

読み方が分かれる10語 伝統的な読み 少数派に:
「十匹」は伝統的な「じっぴき」の23%を「じゅっぴき」が75%と大きく上回った。多数派の「じゅっぴき」が学校現場では不正解となり論議を呼ぶケースも出ている。(2004年7月30日 日本経済新聞朝刊より)
http://hiramatu-hifuka.com/onyak/kokugo04.html
CommentIn view of the references listed above, I'm not sure if じゅっぽん should even be tagged "incorrect kana."

I myself pronounce these words as じゅっぽん(十本)and じゅっぴき (十匹).

BTW, isn't this a noun rather than an adjective? EDICT considers 一本、一匹、二人、etc. nouns.

English 2(2) (おまえ,みまえ only) presence (of a god, nobleman, etc.)
Referencekoj, daijr, daijs
Commentperhaps something like this

みまえ=御前 only....

if it's too messy, みまえ could be put in the 御前[ごぜん] entry. thought it might feel more at home here with the other まえs

Headword 1先駆者
Reading 1せんくしゃ

English 1pioneer
English 2trailblazer

Commentthere's a rather significant difference in between harbinger/forerunner/herald and pioneer in that the first three *signal* something, but they don't actually *do* anything

i'm not sure they belong in here at all, but if they do, they deserve secondary status
NameRene Malenfant
Submission Typeamend
Editorial Comment I kept herald and forerunner in a 2nd sense (GG5 rolls them all together.)

Current Entry先駆 [せんく] /(n,vs) (1) forerunner/pioneer/outrider/precursor/(2) herald/(3) pilot car/(P)/
Headword 1先駆
Reading 1せんく

English 1(1) pioneering

English 3trailblazing
English 4pioneer
English 5(2) (See 前駆) outrider (person riding horseback in the lead position of a cavalcade)
English 6outriding
Referencekoj, daijr, daijs
Commenti'm less sure about this and it should be run through gg5, etc. but *i think* this is closer to the actual meaning

a 先駆 actually *does* something (a pioneer), and a 前駆 merely foreshadows the arrival of something (a harbinger)

先駆 brings up lots of google hits for cars, but they all seem to be for the Mazda Senku, a kind of car

Editorial Comment GG5 has: "a forerunner; a precursor". Sanseido Exceed has much the same. Grand Concise has "outrider; forerunner". Are the JE's reflecting modern usage more than the 国語s?
