Headword 1半輪
Reading 1
Part-of-speechn
English 1semicircle
English 2half-moon
Comment半輪 is comprehensible but a rather poor alternative to 半円 which I believe is default. Quite some time ago I suggested the use of "objects", a nice example of which can be found at:

Editorial Comment Yes, 半輪 is much rarer than 半円.

Headword 1半輪
Reading 1
Part-of-speechn
English 1semicircle
English 2half-moon
CommentPictorially 半周 "could mean" a "semicircle" but the feeling and usage is quite different. It's more of "halfway around (a circuit)" or "half a turn", the sequence being 半周 --> 一周 --> 二周 --> ...

Current Entry王道 [おうどう] /(n) principles of royalty/rule of right/
Headword 1王道
Reading 1
Part-of-speechn
English 1(1) principles of royalty
English 2rule of right
English 3(2) (See 学問に王道なし) easy method
English 4short-cut
CommentInterestingly the saying x-ref'ed in (2) would appear to suggest that (2) has a negative nuance but in my experience it is often (usually?) positive. More like "best way".

Comments and suggestions welcomed ;-)
