Commenti assume that the 導 here is being used in the same sense as in 半導体, so it really means something along the lines of "magic conductivity", or "allowing magic to flow through oneself" but i can't think of a very natural translation

the video game final fantasy 6 seems to translate it as "magitek"

The youtube ref is for 魔導騎士. Note that we already have
If you take away a few compound words it drops just below half a million Google hits.

> i assume that the 導 here is being used in the same sense
> as in 半導体,

魔道 and 魔導 are both used for magic/sorcery. I think they
are probably the same word with a kanji substitution. (Maybe so FF could trademark it, maybe for some other reason).

See hits on 魔道書 (64,800) vs 魔導書 (60,100). They both
mean grimoire/book of sorcery.

Wiki says, for what that's worth,

And, of course, it's in all games; computer & table-top.

I'm dubious about calling 魔道師 an 'iK' because I have seen nothing that indicates 魔導 came first.

Headword 1

Part-of-speechn
English 1someone who's state is slightly poorer than regular poverty
English 22nd degree poverty (with 貧乏-poor being the initial stage)
Cross-reference
Reference
