Comment>OK, I have added v4r to the list. Can you suggest a short tag for 動サ特活?

If you do a "を解説に含む" search for 動サ特活 at Yahoo, you'll get a bunch of entries for 動サ特活 from Daijisen. They're all old-fashioned keigo forms of somewhat obvious origin:

Daijisen lists some of the conjugations and they don't seem to match. For example.

There's no real matching going on here, but the general conjugation pattern seems to be:
せ(さ、し)・し・す・す・せ(すれ)・せ(し)

For comparison:

為る(する)is:
し(せ、さ)・し・する・する・すれ・しろ(せよ)

v4s is:
さ・し・す・す・せ・せ

v5s is:
さ(そ)・し・す・す・せ・せ

It's most similar to v4s, so I'm tempted to call "動サ特活" 'v4s-s', but I'm not sure it has its origin in v4s verbs, and "動サ特活" might actually just be a grab-bag category for all irregular -す verbs.
NameRene Malenfant
Submission Typeamend
Editorial Comment Not sure what to do. I accept the doubt about the v4s derivation. "vxs-i"?

Current Entryざんす;ざます /(aux-v) (arch) to be/
Headword 1ざんす
Headword 2ざます
Part-of-speechaux-v
English 1(arch) to be
Commentthe general conjugation pattern seems to be:
せ(さ、し)・し・す・す・せ(すれ)・せ(し)

為る(する)is:
し(せ、さ)・し・する・する・すれ・しろ(せよ)

==

Actually, looking again, it seems much more similar to する, with some of the conjugations abbreviated.

Maybe vs-a or something.

Or the current entry for vs-s or vs-i could be altered to become a grab-bag category that would include these verbs.
NameRene Malenfant
Submission Typeamend
Editorial Comment The "vs*" group of tags all relate to a する, and I don't want to stray from that.
