Current Entry修羅場 [しゅらば;しゅらじょう] /(n) fighting scene/scene of carnage (bloodshed)/ (1332380)
Headword 1修羅場
Reading 1しゅらば
Part-of-speechn
English 1fighting scene
English 2scene of carnage (bloodshed)
ReferenceA Japanese friend of mine pointed it out.
CommentAccording to my friend しゅらじょうis not a proper reading of this. Furthermore, this is the only reading provided when using the Text/word translation, so I was mistakenly thinking it was the right one. Of course this entry has both pronunciations, but since the second one is wrong it should be removed, or at least the first should be marked as the preferred reading and the dictionary used in Text/word translation should be fixed.

Editorial Comment Your friend didn't check the 国語辞典s such as 広辞宛 and 大辞林. しゅらじょう is alive and well there, although it's more associated with another meaning. I have tagged that one as old, and enforced the use of しゅらば in the Text/word translation function.

CommentI think the kana reading should be えいようぶそく and NOT えいようふそく, which I have never heard for this very common expression. Also 栄養にならない is very common when speaking of "junk food".

Headword 1参考にする
Reading 1さんこうにする
Part-of-speechexp
English 1to refer to; to use as reference
Cross-reference参考
ReferenceLooking at the entry for 参考, we see:

どの辞書を参考にしたんですか。

This is a usage of 参考 that I'd argue is outside the definition of 参考 as a `vs', but then I'm not sure about the correct way to organise things in the dictionary.
CommentThis is a suggestion only! I don't mean to suggest this is definitely accurate or a correct entry to have, merely proposing.

Submission Typenew
Editorial Comment One gloss per line, please. No semi-colons. I think this one is the *real* verbal form of 参考, and 参考する is a (not uncommon) error.
