CommentI have never heard 知恵熱 used to mean "teething fever," but have often heard it
used in the meaning I have added above: a fever that brings with it an
intellectual or psycho-developmental growth spurt. I was wondering what this
was called in English and came across the above-referenced site after checking
the Monash site and finding the English entry questionable.

Editorial Comment Both Kenkyusha JEs and the big Kodansha all say "teething fever". I have added your second sense, and extended it to include: "fever that brings with it an intellectual or psycho-developmental growth spurt".
