Editorial Comment It's in GG5, Nelson, Koujien and Daijirin, so I think it is not exactly colloquial. More old-fashioned, I suspect. With ~800 hits it's worth keeping but with an "obsc" as it's certainly not the word-of-choice for anaesthetic.

By all means have _two_ entries with an x-ref, but it is
often used on it's own or in other compound words. A quick glance at the Google results will confirm that.

Commentalso, i would check any references you might have for this. it doesn't actually seem to mean this.

さん‐ぎょう【三業】‥ゲフ
料理屋・待合・芸者屋の3種の営業。

so it doesn't necessarily seem to mean that they are three businesses under one roof as suggested in the current english gloss, and unless it's a euphemism, i don't think 待合 really means "brothel"

Editorial Comment GG5 says: "the three gay-quarter enterprises (of eating houses, geisha houses, and accommodation houses)." "gay-quarter" no longer works as originally, so I've made it: "the three entertainment district enterprises: eating houses, geisha houses, accommodation houses"
