Also, I find the rendering to be horrid "choku-yaku" at best and the meaning of the rendering way beyond me. 2) Since 小児病院 is well established, why do we not then have 小児科病棟. 3) For some odd reason I like consistency. For example, and in support of #1 and #2, we have 精神病院 (mental hospital) and 精神科病院 (psychiatric hospital) AND then we have, rather consistently, 精神科病棟.
