Comment | Although I never heard this one, the meaning is discernable by even the least discerning. What is usually/always used is ÆüËܳ¤. Why do I point up the obvious? Well, lest one read the mind of the "wordsmith" the English query of "Japan sea" produces nothing, only "Sea of Japan" results in ÆüËܳ¤ as a result. Although I know Edict is "intended" for those enquiring in Japanese exclusively, I believe this is a rather myopic approach and that our "database", if indeed it be that, be updated to accommodate "word-specific queries" and therefore not limited to "word-order specific" queries. Therefore both "sea + Japan" and "Japan + sea" should, as is SOP nowadays, yield ÆüËܳ¤. |

Comment | I am not sure whether this mode of contact is the appropriate one for coming back to you on the topic. However, having read your comments, I agree with what you have said, save that when as a novice one goes to your site and enters a search criteria and sees the exact match and the associated meaning, it is a great comfort. Sometimes the obvious is the most difficult thing for the novice. Now that I have read your note, I shall be quite confident about translating the meaning of Âè°ìXÌÜ for various things. Nevertheless, as there are often no natural spaces between words or expressions in Japanese text, it is often difficult to know where to start and end the serach criteria so an overdose of help from your site is more than welcome.
