CommentI cannot find any references to the use of body for this. And my Japanese acquaintances were wondering about my use for the word as 'body'.
Body is commonly known as 体.
NameJeroen Ruigrok van der Werven

Editorial Comment GG5 has: 〔皮膚〕 skin; 〔肌身〕 a [the] body.
Obviously only for specific and rather personal contexts, as the examples show:
女の肌に触れる touch a woman's 「skin [body]; 〔性的関係をもつ〕 sleep with a woman; 《文》 lie with a woman; know a woman
肌を合わせる bring one's bodies together 《for warmth》; 〔性的関係をもつ〕 sleep together; 《文》 have carnal knowledge of each other
(女が)男に肌を許す give herself to a man
etc.

CommentThere is an entry for 平たい, but none for 平たく which, used before 言うと or 言えば has the meaning of "to put it simply" or "to say it in layman's terms" etc. Does this require a new entry, or just an amendment to 平たい?
NameDavid Stormer
Submission Typeamend
Editorial Comment 平たい and 平たく are different words, so they can't share the one entry. Also 平たく is a regular adverbial formation from 平たい. Generally the -く forms of -い adjectives are not included unless they are not obvious from the adjective, Do we really need 平たく?

Maybe either "motive" could be moved to a gloss in (1), or "intention" and maybe "inclination" be added to the "motive" sense.

CommentThe above combination of the kanji in Nelson gives the reading as your database, but it also gives いし おの. However, in trying to read the tenor of your observations, I thought that (even though the second reading may be classified as a description) it may also be useful to add it in to the database as another reading.
NameFrancis
Submission Typeamend
Editorial Comment That "いし おの" in the "new" Nelson was copied straight in from the "Classic". John Haig was supposed to have checked every 熟語, but I have my doubts. I can find no evidence of it being read いしおの currently.
