CommentWith regard to my response to Paul's comment on 交換しあい, the other today, I believe that I have again found a an expression which endorses my point. The above is a suffix which I saw attached to 特筆. When I read 特筆すべき, I was not wholly sure what it meant so I searched my dictionary without any success. I looked up some grammar books, but I could not find much help. べき could be found, but not すべき. When I accessed your site on this occasion, I searched for 特筆すべき and there was the answer. Then, thinking about the meaning of すべき, I searched for that too. As you would know already, up came the answer: should do (abbr. of suru+beki). Excellent, the hurdle surmounted, the step to understanding achieved, now I can move on with confidence.
I am not saying that the explanation of that expression does not appear anywhere in any of my reference books, but sometimes it is very difficult to find what is obvious somewhere in amongst a 100 pages of text or so. Indeed, I have to say that as I progress in my understanding of Japanese, it becomes easier to understand what the textbook-writer was trying to say in the early stages of a textbook, but often failing to say it in a way that the beginner can understand.
I believe that my reference to the above expression helps to add justification to the great value of your site in going beyond the 'dictionary' concept and moving into a concept of helping someone cross the boundary line between 'not understanding' and 'understanding'.
I appreciate that you do not need a lecture on these matters so please regard my observations as a plea from a sluggish brain that needs many stepping stones to cross the small stream; fearing that the bold leap across may result in a sprained ankle the other side. My work in conflicts and disputes has taught me that many of those caught up in the trauma of conflicts and disputes avoided using the small stepping stones that would have helped them safely on their journey. So, more stepping stones, rather than less is my plea.

What I would suggest is that we "tashikameru" all the (comp) labellined entries so as not to give them one face only. Btw, I really appreciate the oh-so-many-(comp) entries, because my "Japanese existence" predates computers, electricity, telephones and even indoor toilets in Japan.
