Current Entry値(P);価 [あたい(値;価)(P);ね(値)] /(n,adj-no,vs) (1) value/price/cost/worth/merit/(2) {comp} variable (computer programming, programing)/(P)/ (1581630)

English 3(2) value

English 5merit
English 6(3) (値・あたい only) {math} value
Referencekoj, daijr, daijs, prog, nc, meikyo
Commenti'm not sure about the comp-sci meaning. dictionaries only mention the math meaning. i could see how it would be possible to confuse "variable" and "value" quite easily.

i'm also removing (vs), since there's already an entry for 値する.

is it possible to do headword-reading restrictions like i have above? in the end, since 直 also seems like it should be added as a headword for ね (koj, daijs), it may be easier to split this into two entries (and also, all dictionaries i checked split the "price" & "value" senses):

値,価[あたい]
(1) price/cost
(2) value/worth/merit
(3) (値 only) {math} value

価,直[ね]
(1) price/cost
(2) value/worth/merit

Submission Typeamend
Editorial Comment I'll keep it as one entry, and have both the "math" and "comp" senses. GG5 has 価/値/あたい for that "{math} value" sense, which means it only needs あたいas a restriction.

daijirin is the only dictionary to give "yellow beak" its own sense, the others just mention it as etymology
