Comment(See ) changed on (10).

I'm also not sure about sense (6). Both whether it is different enough from (5) to be separated, and in what sort of sentences would be assigned that sense.

Please ignore previous submission. Long story, but the short version is that I searched on (and thought that was) 角く釘.

Headword 1旧日本海軍
Reading 1きゅうにほんかいぐん
Part-of-speechexp
English 1The old Japanese navy
English 2RH
ReferenceSee below.
CommentWhen something seems obvious perhaps one has missed the point. However, I am wondering why the expression 'the old Japanese navy' is not appropriate. I have often come across 旧日本 in text which I have read and I have taken it to mean 'old Japan'. The same applies to the next two entries in the range, but I have just done one because I can imagaine that I have missed the obvious. [PS. any news yet on the drop down box for Part-of-speech?]

Editorial Comment I don't think this is needed. You can put 旧 on the front of many, many things.
No chance of a drop-down box for POSs with amendments. The EDICT file used online is not that easily parsed, and I'd need to parse it very carefully to do it that way. For amendments you'll just have to change the presented text.
