Headword 1 | ¤ß¤Ê¤é¤º |
Reading 1 | ¤ß¤Ê¤é¤º |
Part-of-speech | exp |
English 1 | not only [A], but [B] |
Reference | See below. |
Comment | The above seems to appear lots of times on Google and I believe it has the context of 'not only one thing but another also'. I have not found it in a reference book, nor on your site; nor can I find any kanji to support it. However, in seeing translated documents, that meaning seems to be about right. Maybe also the concept of 'both A and B' depending on the sentence ending.
With regard to your comments on RH, I must try and understand more clearly this aspect of your site and so I shall spend some more time on the explanatory notes. At the moment I am not too clear. However, in view of all the information in the explanatory notes and the need to know what is stated at the time of being in the main window, I wonder whether is would be possible to have a control function which allows the explanatory notes to be opened up in a side window; somewhate like the 'favourites' open pane when using the main web site. Short of printing out the explanatory notes, which may be added to or modified at times, it is difficult [for me!] to remember the content of one file when in another. In addition, that would also help with the Part-of-speech [i.e., the drop down box not being available] in the AMENDMENT submission window. Sorry if my observations do not contain technically correct terminology for the web. |

The word is ¤Î¤ß¤Ê¤é¤º; not ¤ß¤Ê¤é¤º. It's been in EDICT forever.
The present amendment form is an interim one, and is based on a very limited parse of the entries. I don't want to put a lot of work into enhancing it when it is down for replacement. |
Headword 1 | µªÇ° |

Reference | Arthur Rose-Innes (compiler), Beginners' dictionary of Chinese-Japanese characters, Dover, New York, 1977. [Republication of the 4th edn of the work as published by the Meiseisha Publishing Company, Tokyo, 1959.] |
Comment | Asking for a translation of µªÇ° results in "µªÇ° ¡Ú¤¤Í¤ó¡Û Kinen (u) NA" - i.e. only a name is given.
These characters appear on many postage stamps of Japan and Manchukuo issued in the thirties and early forties. |

Editorial Comment | Yes, µÇ° was written µªÇ° prewar. Rose-Innes was published in 1927. I have added µªÇ° to the µÇ° entry. |

Comment | I'm wondering out loud if we shouldn't qualify ½ñ»ïºîÀ®µ»½Ñ as being more of an "art, technique or academic discipline that can be taught/learned, etc. for certification or accreditation as a bibliographer" and not just a fixed bibliography at the end of a book as the rendering leads one to believe. |

English 1 | inclusion |
English 2 | comprehension |
English 3 | subsumption |
Comment | While I realize that "comprehension" can as a secondary meaning (at least in US English), I believe it can be too easily confused with "understanding". How 'bout "comprehensiveness" instead. While I'm being cantankerous, let me also say I don't like "subsumption" because gives the feeling of "a member in a set" as opposed to the act of including as a member of equal rank. Now who said I can't be pedantic?! |

Editorial Comment | "comprehensiveness" is fine, and indeed better than the rather old-fashioned "comprehension". I've dropped subsumption. |
