These are the submissions received via the WWW forms for this day. I (Jim Breen) will annotate the submission if I think it needs to be amended or rejected or if I have a question about it. Otherwise it can be assumed that it has been accepted. You can see how it will look in EDICT by looking at the "diffs" file for this day or the next in the diffs directory.

Editorial Comment Use normal ASCII rather that zenkaku for POS, etc.

Current Entry収録(P);集録;輯録 [しゅうろく] /(n,vs) compilation/editing/recording/(P)/ (1330980)

English 3recording
CommentA link to 録音 or do you think I'm reaching a bit? Actually 録音 would be a subset of 収録. Also, although I prefer 集録, I don't find it any other e-dictionary; wonder if it should be deleted along with 輯録, which I also don't find elsewhere and with which I feel no special bond.

Editorial Comment I have moved recording to another sense, and put the xref to 録音 there. 収録 is in GG5, etc. 輯録 is rather old - it's in Nelson, for example.

Current Entry録音 [ろくおん] /(n,vs) (audio) recording/(P)/ (1561590)
Headword 1録音
Reading 1ろくおん
Part-of-speechn,vs
English 1(audio) recording
CommentThere should be at least a link to 録画, though I must say from my experience that most (even the highly educated) Japanese people use 録音 as a "catch-all". I always felt like I was nit-picking or showing off when I used 録画, though it is technically more exact for video.

CommentRevisiting 収録, I probably would link to both 録音 (sound) and 録画 (video) which are sometimes subsets and sometimes overlapping Venn diagrams with 収録.

Current Entry月間 [げっかん] /(n) (during) month/(P)/ (1255550)
Headword 1月間
Reading 1げっかん
Part-of-speechn
English 1(during) month
CommentI'm not saying 月間 is not used in oral communication; I'm just saying I never heard it, probably because it is too easily confused with 月刊, which is more common. Usually "ABC month no aida ni", kon-getsu-chuu ni, kon-getsu no aida ni, no matsu ni, etc. are said instead.

Headword 1大いに力
Reading 1おおいにちから
Part-of-speechexp
English 1very strong
English 2great strength
English 3TempSUB
CommentI don't think this is a very good entry. As 大いに is an adverb it isn't really linked to 力 at all. The meaning of 力 also depends on the rest of the sentence.

So if you have
大いに力になりたい。
That is 大いに + 力になりたい
(See 力になる)

And if it's
大いに力を発揮しよう!!
then it's 大いに + 力を発揮しよう
(Given as # 力を発揮する
make a significant contribution // work effectively
in Eijiro)

Both sentences are best understood with 大いに modifying the rest of the sentence.

Headword 1引照
Reading 1いんしょう

ReferenceSee below.
CommentWith regard to the entry being worth having, 引照 appeared often in the text which I have read. When I first looked up the meaning, I found it in 小学館 and also in Nelson 1681(13). It is also good to see it in the data on your site. However, I shall be quick to retreat if I have misunderstood the nature of the exchange between you and the other submission.

CommentI have not seen the above in reference books, but it appears often in text and it appears on Google so perhaps it deserves an inclusion along with similar expressions. May be the Part-of-speech should be adjectival.

CommentI would really like to see links to other grammar forms, in this case 余り, which has a plethora of meanings and usages in daily Jpn. In all fairness none of the other e-dicts have links either. Could be "a first" and quite helpful.
