CommentI don't think 先 and 暫く are particularly 'linked' thus I don't think this makes a good (exp) entry. For example:

今日、明日はこれから先しばらく無い連休でした。

"これから先" (2,380,000 Google hits) could be an entry "from now on" or "しばらくない" (83,900) might be an entry "(exp, adj) first ○○ in a while; not occurring for some time", but "先しばらく" doesn't really make much sense when you try to consider it as one lump.

CommentAs Paul mentioned here (http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/dicsubs/2007-03/subs2007-03-09.html), Daijirin separates the わくs, as does every other dictionary I checked.

This should be:

沸く [わく]
(1) to grow hot (of water, etc.)/to boil
(2) to be in a state of excitement

湧く,涌く [わく]
(1) to well/to gush/to spring out
(2) to appear (esp. suddenly)
(3) to hatch (esp. of parasitic insects, etc.)

The (iK) on 涌く seems unnecessary.

I think it's important to put the original literal meaning of things before their figurative meaning unless the original has fallen into (near-) complete disuse.

* Salt and Pepper or "steel" gray: Usually a younger horse, an animal with white and dark hairs evenly intermixed over most of the body.
* Dapple gray: a dark-colored horse with lighter rings of graying hairs, called dapples, scattered throughout.
* Fleabitten gray: an otherwise fully white-haired horse that develops red hairs flecked throughout the coat.
* Rose gray: a gray horse with a reddish or pinkish tinge to its coat. This color occurs with a horse born bay or chestnut while the young horse is "graying out."

English 4house-sitter
English 5(3) (usu. as お留守になる) to be left unattended to (of one's studies, etc.)

Commentchange sense 3 to make it intransitive as the "usu. ~" part suggests, and add a more literalish translation

Editorial Comment Since it's not a verb, I made the last sense: "being left.../neglecting".

CommentEntry should be deleted, it's wrong. The English name of this is "Tokyo Institute of Technology", the university with the unfortunate acronym.

Reading 1じゅもくい
Part-of-speech?
English 1tree surgeon; arborist
English 2RH
CommentIn the original document it says "tree doctor" as a translation for "tree surgeon". I wondered whether tree surgeon was valid in the USA so searched some more and found the term "arborist".

I don't think "tree doctor" is valid in any kind of English, but I'm adding a note just in case.
Submission Typenew
Editorial Comment We say "tree surgeon".

CommentI'm not too fond of (P) entries that place a (P) on both readings if one seems to be the common reading.

The above references all use きぞう;
Goo only mentions きぞう.
I can't get 寄贈 in the Anthy IME by using きそう.
In the 2004 一級 test, きぞう is used in a question where you have to infer from the context and the hiragana that it is 寄贈.

Perhaps we can drop the (P) from the きそう reading?

Editorial Comment Agreed. きそう was in front of きぞう purely because of sorting order, and got a P by accident.

Part-of-speechn
English 1UNKNOWN
CommentThe number of entries listed as "UNKNOWN" seems to be increasing constantly. Often there will be more UNKNOWN listings than actual definitions. As a regular user (and contributor to) this dictionary, I find this quite annoying. It would be very helpful if there was an option to suppress these listings in the search results.

Editorial Comment The "UNKNOWN" entries are in the "Untranslated" or "revhenkan" file, which has about 150,000 entries. It increased a bit a month or so ago. What has happened is that it is now more visible. You only see these entries when you select either the "Untranslated" dictionary or the "Combined Jpn-Eng" dictionary, or click on the "search all dictionaries" option after a partial match. If they annoy you, don't select any of those options. You are only seeing the "UNKNOWN"s because you are asking to be shown them.
