Headword 1蹲む
Reading 1しゃがむ
Part-of-speechv5m,vi

ReferenceSee below.
CommentSomewhat stepping into the arena of the self-exposure of a lack of knowledge, I am wondering whether or not you have the right kanji for しゃがむ. When one looks up the kanji used in your data base, namely: 蹲, the readings are うずくまる and つくばう. On beginning my search, I did start to look for しゃがみこむ and then I checked back for しゃがむ.
It seems to me that the correct kanji should be 躑 [Nelson 5920]. However, I have also noted that in some other dictionaries either 蹲 is used against しゃがむ or that the kanji is not referred to at all. So, perhaps if 躑 is too obscure, then perhaps also the readings for 蹲 should be expanded to include しゃがむ in the data base.
I hope that makes some sense and that I am not off on a limb of obscurity myself.

Editorial Comment I have removed the 蹲む from that entry. None of my 漢和字典 show that kanji and only Nelson shows 躑 (I don't trust Nelson a lot.) 広辞宛 says that the *meaning* of 蹲 is しゃがむ, but it's not listed in the readings.

CommentBuilding on a prior post, I would suggest there be links to 著作権 and 出版権, the differences amongst them I can only glean from their etymologies. Perhaps someone in the field might be able to specify the differences. Also a link to
特許権 is not completely out of order. After all, no two different things can be called synonymous (by definition), "big" being different from "large" after all, such that I kind of like "relationships" that even stretch the Venn overlaps.

Editorial Comment I don't want to go too far at this stage in adding lots of rather loose links. Francis Bond is working on a Japanese Wordnet, which will provide a very rich set of such linkages, and has the potential of enabling a thesaurus function. Once they are available it will be the time to think about how to handle such things at the user interface level.

Note: 持ち主 rightly warrants a P marker, though from the examples given I gather that 所有者 might have broader application. Dunno if it warrants a P though; kinda think not.

Headword 1蹲む
Reading 1しゃがむ
Part-of-speechv5m,vi
English 1(uk) to squat
English 2to crouch
CommentFrom what I can tell 蹲む is only used in Japanese-English dictionaries. Kokugo dictionaries all have this as しゃがむ only. Gets about 50 real googits.

しゃがむ is not listed as a reading for 蹲 in either of my kanwa dictionaries, although the definition is right.

躑 just seems wrong. My kanwas list it as meaning "edging forward" or something. "躑む" gets one googit. I would guess Nelson meant to use 蹲, but screwed up the kanji.

If 蹲む is kept as a headword, I might mark it (iK) (or gikun?). Deleting it may be better:

"しゃがむ" = 300,000 hits, "蹲む" = 50
"しゃがんだ" = 200,000 hits, "蹲んだ" = 30

胡麻をする conjugates as a v5r verb, so a (v5r) tagging might be nice, but I'm not sure if this is acceptable for (exp) entries because obviously the whole expression isn't a verb, only 擂る.
