New Entries/Amendments for 2008-09-20

These are the submissions received via the WWW forms for this day. I (Jim Breen) will annotate the submission if I think it needs to be amended or rejected or if I have a question about it. Otherwise it can be assumed that it has been accepted. You can see how it will look in EDICT by looking at the "diffs" file for this day or the next in the diffs directory.

Headword 1悪っぽい
Reading 1わるっぽい
Part-of-speechadj-f
English 1badish
English 2like being bad
ReferenceSee below.
CommentThis is another one of those common suffixes. In this case, I understand that it means: like ; -ish; e.g., boyish, etc.
I appreciate that it can be added to thousands of words; but if one can only find the meaning of the suffix itself in a reference work, then how does one find the reading of the main part of the word or expression to which the suffix is added; especially when there are often so many variations to the readings.
It frequently seems much easier to translate the written Japanese text directly into English than to find the correct Japanese readings.
I have chosen the above reading from the options, but I was hoping to find the true reading of 悪っぽい from some reliable reference source like your site, rather than searching through text books in the hope of coming across what I was seeking.
If one said, 'Why not ask a Japanese person?', I would still have some doubts because if I simply asked an English person some similar point about English I would also have doubts. The value of reference tools which are in the public domain is the peer review, e.g., as per your remarks about some of the entries in Nelson. And, I suppose the value of your site is the possibility of having everything; subject only to human endeavour.
I take my hat off to respect the great human endeavour which your site demonstrates by its amazing completeness. It is simply that when one is given such a comprehensive coverage of the Japanese language, there is always a tendency to seek for more.

Headword 1アジア諸国
Reading 1アジアしょこく

English 2RH
ReferenceSee below.
CommentSorry to come back again on 'UNKNOWN'.
The above headword is aslo in 'Jpn-Eng General (EDICT)'. The entry is: アジア諸国 【アジアしょこく】 (n) (See 亜細亜, 諸国) Asian countries; Asian nations.
When you state that 'the pairs that are already in EDICT, ENAMDICT, etc. have been removed, so what you see is the remainder.' I am wondering if it is the case that when something gets into the UNKNOWN/RH by some default process, that it is difficult to remove it and hence the build up to 150,000 entries.
If that is the case, then perhaps it is best if I just ignore this classification when it shows up. In short, perhaps I should just make a new submission, rather than seeking to amend the UNKNOWN/RH.

Editorial Comment アジア諸国 got into EDICT very recently - since I last stripped out matching kanji/readings from the "revhenkan" file. I just ran the strip process, and pulled out ~300 entries.
