| Comment | As a matter of interest, in the context of the recent exchanges about 彼個人, I searched for 彼自身 on your site.
The search revealed the above. This gave confirmation of the reading. As to the meaning itself, and as to a balance in idiomatic translations, one can think of many options in one's own language, but either way the basic meaning is fairly clear. As said before, the reading in such cases is the problem for the beginner; especially a beginner who is not in regular oral exchanges with a native Japanese speaker. As with 彼個人, I could not find the reading for 彼自身 in any of my reference books; albeit, I expect that a search through the texts books would reveal the reading; but what a drag!
