Headword 1バリスター
Part-of-speechn
English 1barrister (legal)
Referencehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrister
CommentI saw this word in the original Japanese subtitling extracted from the original tv broadcast for the law drama Hokaben. It took me a while to find the english word it related to (since it was obvious it didn't mean "varistor"). I wasn't sure whether this should be a new entry or an amendment to the existing entry.

Current Entry針 [はり] /(n) (1) needle/(2) fish hook/(3) pointer/hand (e.g. clock)/(4) staple (for a stapler)/(P)/ (1366210)
Headword 1
Reading 1はり
Part-of-speechn
English 1(1) needle
English 2(2) fish hook
English 3(3) pointer
English 4hand (e.g. clock)
English 5(4) staple (for a stapler)
English 6(ctr,n) (5) stitch
Referencehttp://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/search.php?MT=針&kind=je&mode=1

傷を6〜縫う have six stitches put on one's cut.
CommentPossible example sentence:

怪我自体はなん針か縫う程度だそうです。
Apparently the injury itself only warranted a few stitches.

I can't confirm the はり reading for the example sentence, but the dictionary example would seem to indicate it is used like that. I believe the ON reading, シン, is used in some proverb type phrases.
