CommentWhen typed in Hiragana and converted, the "repeat" Kanji comes up first in the Kanji suggestions list. Just like 時々, 更々, etc.
I'm sure that when hand-writing this word Japanese people would prefer to use the repeat kanji because it is faster to write than the same kanji twice in a row.
