These are the submissions received via the WWW forms for this day. I (Jim Breen) will annotate the submission if I think it needs to be amended or rejected or if I have a question about it. Otherwise it can be assumed that it has been accepted. You can see how it will look in EDICT by looking at the "diffs" file for this day or the next in the diffs directory.

Current Entry困る [こまる] /(v5r,vi) to be worried/to be bothered/(P)/ (1289590)
Headword 1困る
Reading 1こまる
Part-of-speechv5r,vi
English 1to be troubled/get into trouble
English 2to be worried
English 3to be bothered
CommentAll the examples use the word "trouble" when describing situations with this verb, and "trouble" and "worry/bother" are not fully interchangeable. It seems that using "trouble" would be a more accurate translation of the word, especially since the sense 困る conveys is more to "to enter a fully problematic situation" as opposed to "to encounter a minor nuisance/anxiety-inducing situation".

Editorial Comment I think it hs a wide spread of meanings. GG5 has 6 senses, but many seem a bit similar.

Don't put kana-only forms in the kanji field, and ALWAYS add an Englisg gloss. 駄駄 alone seems to mean tantrum, according to Koujien.

used for aluminum baseball bats).
