New Entries/Amendments for 2009-02-09

These are the submissions received via the WWW forms for this day. I (Jim Breen) will annotate the submission if I think it needs to be amended or rejected or if I have a question about it. Otherwise it can be assumed that it has been accepted. You can see how it will look in EDICT by looking at the "diffs" file for this day or the next in the diffs directory.

Current Entry危険 [きけん] /(n,adj-no) (1) danger/peril/hazard/(adj-na) (2) dangerous/hazardous/(P)/ (1218560)
Headword 1危険
Reading 1きけん
Part-of-speechn,adj-no
English 1(1) (ant: 安全) danger
English 2peril
English 3hazard
English 4(adj-na) (2) dangerous
English 5hazardous
ReferenceSee below.
CommentThe entry for 安全 carries a useful cross-reference to the above entry, viz, 安全 【あんぜん】 (adj-na,n) (1) (ant: 危険) safety; (2) security; (P).

Would it not be equally helpful for the above entry [危険] to have a cross-reference to "安全"?

Headword 1マニア
Part-of-speechn
English 1(1) enthusiast
English 2(2) mania

CommentAdded "enthusiast" as the main translation. From my personal experience, this word refers to individuals (=enthusiasts) more often than a general phenomenon.

You've just got to love katakana-go whose meaning becomes disconnected from the source language..

Headword 1癲癇持ち
Reading 1てんきょうもち
Part-of-speechn
CommentThis is an existing word, but the reading is incorrect: it should be てんかんもち instead of てんきょうもち.

Searching for 'てんきょうもち' returns it as a result, but 'てんかんもち' does not. Examining the kanji '癇' also results in a wordlist containing the incorrect entry as such:

癲癇持ち 【てんきょうもち】 (n) an epileptic [G][GI][S][A]

CommentHow can one make clear that the second meaning is not "THE anatomy" but a meaning akin to "anatomy related" (in compound nouns) or "anatomical" (which is, of course, not a noun)?

I would prefer to see "anatomy related" rather than just "anatomy" in the gloss, so please adjust the entry if that can be done.
