| Comment | this was one of my earliest submissions, going way back... not too good, but i didn't want to make a long, drawn-out explanation
跪座 is similar to 正座. the difference is that in seiza the tops of your feet are flat against the floor and you sit on your soles, which is what causes them to go to sleep and get all crampy and uncomfortable. supposedly, it's socially acceptable to temporarily switch into kiza, where the balls of your feet touch the floor and you sit on your heels. after the cramps or pins & needles are gone, you switch back to seiza. |

| Comment | I am not sure about this meaning, but I deduced it as the sole possible meaning of the unique galleon built by the Japanese, otherwise known as 伊達丸 (だてまる) in the 館様造船模様 document, or yet as サン・ファン・バウティスタ号. The Miyagi prefecture told me that none of these names could be considered as 'undoubtedly' recorded. |
