相反しない - ~15,000 Googits 相反さない - ~200 Googits. I'd say vs, not vs-s. A PoS of just "vs" alone means that it would be invariably 相反する, etc. just as "adj-na" alone implies, e.g. 静かな, 静かに, 静かです, etc. |

I thought (vs) and (vs-s) were considered to be absolutely identical, except that (vs-s) *actually has the する in the entry itself*, whereas (vs) implies that する should be *added* to the end of the entry. The conjugations are identical, right? The 〜さない is common to both of them, since they both take 為[す] in place of 為る[する] when they are used in 文語. (The reason the 〜さない is so much more common in things like 愛する (vs-s) is because of the existence of the derived 愛す (v5s), which is 口語.) So I guess what I'm saying is, if an entry like 相反 can't be used as a noun, there's no reason not to have it entered as 相反する (vs-s,vi), and that matches the precedent set by all the dictionaries in the original reference. |

| Comment | i'm learning japanese, and i have been working through a bunch of japanese readers. many of these are japanese folk tales, and a number of them use the phrase "山の中” as the setting for something happening. i read that as something like "in the heart of the mountains", which i picture as a pretty inaccessible place. but in the stories it seems to be used more as "somewhere in the mountains".
i guess i'm not necessarily proposing a new entry, but if you happen to have a good definition for this one, it would be nice to see it in the dictionary :-) |
