New Entries/Amendments for 2009-03-09

These are the submissions received via the WWW forms for this day. I (Jim Breen) will annotate the submission if I think it needs to be amended or rejected or if I have a question about it. Otherwise it can be assumed that it has been accepted. You can see how it will look in EDICT by looking at the "diffs" file for this day or the next in the diffs directory.
Annotations completed: 9 Mar.
Headword 1突然目
Reading 1とつぜんめ
Part-of-speechexp
English 1somewhat sudden
ReferenceSee below.
CommentThe above expression appears in tens of thousands on Google. The first two kanji are obvious and are covered in your data. The last kanji is not quite so obvious as to precise use, but it is adequately covered for its various uses in your data. The combined three do not show up any clear meaning or total reading in the reference tools which I have searched. The novice would be left to wonder about these things. If the novice hoped that, by a search of "目" on Google, some help may be found, the answer would perhaps lie somewhere in the 120m search results.

In the context of the text in which I have read the expression, the only meaning which seems to fit generally is the meaning given above. An 'ish' type ending does not easily suit, but depending upon flow of reading it may sound all right.

I am hoping that you will afford this helpful assistance for the novice by including the above headword. If your experts have a different view on the reading, that would be a bonus.
