Part-of-speech | adj-i |
English 1 | immodest |
English 2 | unladylike |
English 3 | vulgar |
Comment | The 端たない form is in the 新和英中辞典 and Sanseido EXCEED. Is it really an ateji? はし is a 訓読み of 端.
== I think so... I thought an ateji was just use of a kanji due to its reading, without any consideration of its meaning. |

Editorial Comment | Identification of ateji is simpler for words like お目出度い, but for a verb with a single kanji it's less clear-cut. In this case all the 国語辞典 I checked have no kanji at all, and the better JEs don't either. I'll flag it ateji. |
